Welcome to the YEG Dancer Community!

YEG Dancer is a community-run social dance organization founded on a human-first vision of unity, inclusivity, and safety. We are dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment for all newcomers.

Uniting YEG’s Dance Community

YEG Dancer’s mission is to build bridges between the various social dance communities of Edmonton, where Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Zouk, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Hustle, and Ballroom enthusiasts enjoy their craft but don’t often venture far beyond. We believe dancers of any craft can be dancers of all crafts, and celebrate connection and growth in all dance styles.

Come For The Dance, Stay For The People

At YEG Dancer events, we prioritize human connection over all else, both during the dance and outside of the dance. We believe that true human joy comes from being part of a vibrant community of diverse people from all kinds of backgrounds!

Bachata Tuesdays: Community Building Nights

We host a variety of Salsa, Bachata, and other partner dance socials throughout the year, including monthly outdoor events during the summer.

International Artist Weekenders

September 19-20, 2026

Sugar Swing Ballroom

Three times a year, experience intensive training with internationally renowned professionals and enjoy a social dancing experience unlike anywhere else in Alberta.

Our previous weekender featured New York City artists Diego Rivera and Yaritza Arboleda. This September, Italian world champion Kristian Sassone joins us for his Canadian debut.

Attendee Safety

Creating a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment is one of YEG Dancer’s core values. We believe everyone should be able to enjoy dancing without fear of harassment, intimidation, coercion, or other inappropriate behaviour. Our commitment to safety extends beyond physical well-being to fostering an environment where people feel respected, included, and comfortable participating.

We take concerns about attendee safety seriously. When appropriate, we may speak with those involved, provide education or warnings, establish behavioural expectations, or, in more serious or repeated cases, suspend or permanently prohibit individuals from attending YEG Dancer events.

If someone has made you feel unsafe — whether at one of our events or elsewhere within the dance community — we encourage you to let us know. While we evaluate each situation carefully and fairly, individuals who demonstrate repeated patterns of abusive, harassing, or predatory behaviour are not welcome at YEG Dancer events.

Inclusivity

We strongly believe that gender does not define your role – dance whatever speaks to you in the moment. Whether you are following or breaking traditional norms, you are welcome at our events.

Skill and Experience

We strongly believe that we all grow faster together if we don’t place too high a value on skill levels or experience. Whether you are dancing for the first time in your life or danced your way out of the womb, you are welcome at our events.

Friendships to Last

We strongly believe in making social connections with others at our events. Whether you are flying solo or with a significant co-pilot, you are welcome at our events.

(People who join with friends often stay longer though!)

Creating a Welcoming, Inclusive, and Fun Dance Community

Here are some examples of reviews taken from our Facebook page. We hope they speak for themselves!

Her weekly classes and socials are the best. She goes through different levels of detail with different levels of complexity for different audiences. She also organizes workshops by some of the best dance instructors in the world. Definitely check out her classes and workshops.

YEG Dancer is a very helpful and organized space where information about dance events are shared clearly and after being thoroughly researched. Irina Feldesh works tirelessly to find the best venue, the talented artists to teach, and so many behind the scenes effort that makes her workshops a real hit. Irina is passionate about dance and creating an inclusive space for diverse range dancing styles and instructors for the dancing community in Edmonton. We are very blessed to have her quality workshops and events. She researches àrtists from various countries and locales to create rich learning environment for dancers. In addition, the workshop pricès are very affordable. Irina goes above and beyond these ideas to provide car pooliing for out of town attendees and arrangés housing for out of town guests as well. I highly recommend this page as work is put together with a lot of meticuous effort.
