YEG Dancer is a grassroots organization based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our website address is: https://www.yegdancer.ca. We are on Instagram as @yegdancer, Facebook as @yegdancer, X as @yegdancer, YouTube as @irinafeldesh, and TikTok as @yegdancer.
YEG Dancer is committed to respecting everyone’s right to privacy and autonomy. Any data we collect from our attendees and visitors is for our own promotional purposes and is never sold to a third party. If you ever have any concerns about anything in this policy or otherwise, feel free to contact us.
What data we collect
We generally do not collect user data from website visitors unless explicitly provided (e.g. in the Contact page). However, we do collect contact information from ticketing and sales platforms such as Eventbrite and Square so that we may send updates, reminders, or event promotions.
If applicable, we may set up an email newsletter subscription where we would collect email addresses that are explicitly provided.
Comments
Wherever applicable, when visitors leave comments anywhere on the website, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Comments left on social media platforms or otherwise anywhere outside of the website are not governed by this policy.
Media
We collect photographs and videos at our events for promotional purposes. Anyone attending YEG Dancer events should expect to sometimes be captured in them and their likeness possibly uploaded to the website or various social media platforms. In Canada, rights to all photographs and videos captured belong to the person who captured them, as long as they were captured in a public location, unless they are being used in a misleading or slanderous way.
Cookies
Generally, we do not use cookies to store user data on this website, as it is mainly for informational purposes. If ever applicable, cookies may be used to save some of your information for convenience when you leave a comment. Any such cookies would last for one year or until cleared by the user.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

If applicable, comments made on this website and their metadata are retained indefinitely. Any email addresses collected for email newsletter subscription purposes are retained indefinitely. Contact information we collect from ticketing and sales systems are retained indefinitely.

If applicable, visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Otherwise, we do not give out or sell your data.
