At YEG Dancer, we believe that safety is not only a desired quality of our community, but an absolutely vital part that guides our mission. As dancers, we cannot reach our full potential without an understanding that the space we are in is protected to the highest possible standard. Welcome to a space that is not simply safer than average, but where it is built into the core of our being.

What do we mean when we talk about safety?
Physical Safety
What most people immediately think of when they hear safety in any physical activity – we only teach material appropriate for the students, and always emphasize looking for the safest and most comfortable way to do anything.
Emotional Safety
Our policies extend beyond our events. Those who have caused trauma to attendees through repeated patterns of abuse, regardless of where they occurred, are barred from our events.
Supporting One Another
We’re here for you. And we need to know if you or others have been harmed by someone in the dance scene, so that we can prevent further harm.

Code of Conduct
All YEG Dancer event attendees are expected to adhere to our code of conduct.
We are still working on finalizing a formal code of conduct document. In the meantime, refer to the Sugar Swing Ballroom Code of Conduct here – we are closely aligned with their policies as frequent users of their studio space.

The button below takes you to our incident reporting form. Note that we require your contact information so that our trauma-informed safety team can follow up on your report to ensure we fully understand what happened. All reports must be first-hand; we cannot act on third-party reports or rumours.
